Matthew Haines is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) specializing in treatment of trauma, post-traumatic stress, and complex PTSD, with a deep focus on supporting first responders, military personnel, healthcare professionals, and others in high stress occupations. With over two decades of experience in emergency services and trauma informed care, Matthew brings both professional experience and personal understanding to his clinical practice. He has an Associate's Degree in Fire Science , Bachelor’s Degree In Emergency Management, and Master’s Degree In Social Work.
Matthew works extensively with adults healing from adverse childhood exposures (ACES), attachment injuries, physical injuries, as well as working with the long-term physiological and emotional impact of trauma. He integrates evidence-based approaches-including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and narrative exposure therapy (NET)-with a deep understanding of the autonomic nervous system and endocrine system to help clients reset and regulate the body's natural stress response.
Matthew has developed and designed a 60-hour trauma recovery program that blends psychoeducation experiential therapy, nervous system regulation, and awareness of subconscious thoughts. His model empowers clients to understand and actively engage in the healing process-addressing both the emotional and physiological aspects of trauma.
Through this integrative approach, Matthew helps clients mitigate, and in some cases, prevent the physiological manifestations of chronic stress and trauma, which can contribute to serious health conditions including autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease, digestive and hormonal problems as well as mitigate the 19.9-year decrease in life expectancy clients have with high trauma scores. By restoring balance within the nervous system and endocrine systems, clients often experience improvements in both emotional and physical well-being
In addition, Matthew provides faith-based therapy for clients seeking to align emotional healing with spiritual growth. His compassionate and grounding presence creates a safe space to process pain, rebuild identity, and rediscover purpose.
As a former firefighter, paramedic, and emergency planner, Matthew deeply understands the impact of trauma on those who served and protect. His mission is to help individuals move beyond survival and toward healing, wholeness, and hope.
